Brooklyn-based alt-rock artist, songwriter and guitarist Caitlin Starr kicks off the rollout for her upcoming EP with Will u b My Girlfriend (WYBMG), a bold Pride Month single that turns queer longing into a cunty, guitar-driven anthem. Equal parts vulnerable confession and grunge-fed rush, the song captures the chaos of wanting commitment in a world allergic to labels, making it a natural fit for coverage tied to Pride, queer culture and the return of grunge/emo rock (& eyeliner).

On Will u b My Girlfriend, Caitlin channels a modern lesbian crush spiral into something loud, hooky, and emotionally immediate. Anchored by the refrain “Will you be my girlfriend / I don’t have the common sense to ask,” the track lives in the tension between desire and hesitation. It’s direct, funny, anxious, romantic, and built to hit both as a rock song and as a generational sapphic anthem. The release is accompanied by a music video imagined as a lesbian rocker’s fever dream: girls moshing, raving, crowd surfing and making out, all in the back of a Uhaul.

WYBMG is the first single from Caitlin Starr’s forthcoming EP Speed Saves and marks a bold opening statement for the next phase of her work.
